It is considered a Shat Karma, which is an internal cleansing to aid with excess phlegm, mucus, or fat. The Gheranda Samhita, which predates the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, describes Nauli as such: "With great force move the stomach and intestines from one side to the other." It also claims that it destroys all diseases and increases the bodily fire. In addition, Nauli tones the abdominal muscles and massages the internal organs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mastery of the three locks, Mula, Uddiyana and Jalandhara Bandha, is essential to practice Nauli. Mula bandha seals vital energy at the perineum (floor of the pelvis) and Jalandhara closes the current at the glottis (pit of the throat) so that any toxin cleansing heat generated in the torso does not move into the higher centers. Uddiyana bandha begins with a forceful exhalation followed by a sharp sucking up of the intestines and diaphragm into a vacuum created in the thoracic cavity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Begin with Uddiyana. Stand with your knees bent, feet slightly wider than hip width, and the hands braced against the thighs. Lower the chin to nest in the notch between the collarbones, at the pit of the throat. Exhale forcefully so that the lungs empty quickly and, holding the breath, mimic the action of inhalation. Keep the stomach muscles soft and allow the abdomen to be drawn up, like an elevator, toward the chest. The impulse to inhale from the pelvic floor should push open the thoracic cavity, as if the end of a balloon were held at the perineum and inflated from within. Keep the facial muscles soft, quiet, relaxed, and look toward the torso. Maintain the internal hydraulic lift and hold for several seconds. To release, prolong the chin lock and relax the sides of the chest, loosening the internal vacuum and abdominal lift. Relax the throat and lift the chin slightly before you inhale to avoid gasping. Os aparentes "confortos" da vida moderna na verdade muitas vezes nos escravizam e ao longo do tempo, vão nos minando a energia ao nos enredarem numa imensa e invisível teia de antenas, satélites, bytes, fios e outras variadas e complexas fontes de energia criadas pelo homem, sobrecarregando as cidades com uma pesada atmosfera de radiação elétrica, magnetizando o campo em que vivemos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A poluição visual e sonora também estressa o sistema lentamente. O espírito de competição e divisão nos enrijece o coração nos tornando cada vez mais tensos, a violência urbana nos força ao estado de "sempre alertas", jamais nos permitindo a condição de desfrutar de nossa existência num estado mais contemplativo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Até mesmo quando estão de férias, os seres urbanos não conseguem se livrar de laptops, celulares, livros, Dvds, I Pods e diversas outras fontes de estímulo mental.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A preocupação estética moderna é exagerada e além da conta, e em muitos casos, raíz da falta de saúde e da infelicidade: hábitos alimentares não são mais espontâneos e sábios, o comportamento é ditado por modismos e as pesquisas sobre nutrição são muitas vezes elaboradas num departamento de marketing de um laboratório farmacêutico ou de uma multi-nacional da indústria alimentícia: há sempre as vitaminas da moda, os alimentos da moda, e tem gente que assim segue fiel mesmo sem gostar, de tais e tais coisas, por que tais coisas estão na moda.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cumprir papéis indesejados pode acabar levando alguém ao colapso rapidamente, principalmente se o indivíduo se esquecer no meio de sua agenda compromissada, de agradar ao principal interessado, que deveria ser em primeiro lugar, &lt;strong&gt;A SI MESMO&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A prática do &lt;strong&gt;Hatha Yoga&lt;/strong&gt; e da &lt;strong&gt;Meditação&lt;/strong&gt; têm a missão de alertar e fazer soar o sinal de &lt;strong&gt;PARE!&lt;/strong&gt; - quando o indivíduo necessita &lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;urgentemente&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt; de buscar o retorno ao seu &lt;strong&gt;ponto de&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;EQUILÍBRIO&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Profa. To achieve this linking together, yoga employs a number of very powerful tools: physical practice, various body postures, breathing techniques, mental concentration and meditation. Yoga exercises have been practiced for over thousands of years by millions of people, so the results of particular exercises and meditation techniques have become predictable. It is an art in the way each individual perfects his/her own yoga practice.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Is Yoga Difficult?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Yoga is a holistic technique for physical, mental, and spiritual growth. In yoga, each person progresses at their own pace, and gradually develops the physical flexibility to perform the exercises more perfectly. Every yoga exercise is conducted in a controlled and conscious way. It should not physically hurt to do yoga. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Where Does Yoga Come From?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;The practice of yoga goes back a very long time. According to some yogic masters, the technology is twenty-five thousand years old. What modern archeology knows about the origin of &lt;strong&gt;yoga dates back more than 4,000 years ago, to the fertile Indus Valley&lt;/strong&gt;. During the archaeological excavations in Mohenjo-Daro artifacts radiocarbon dated back more than 4,000 years were discovered that show men sitting in classic yoga postures. Yoga is also part of Ayurveda, considered to be the world’s oldest traditional medical system, and Ayurveda has at least 5,000 years of dated history.Today, yoga in various forms is practiced regularly by millions of people all over the world. It has become very popular in the West. The news media has helped raise awareness about yoga, and as a result many companies now use yoga as part of their human resources support strategy.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Is There Any Scientific Research in this Area?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Much international scientific research has been conducted on the measurable effects of yoga. Although yoga practitioners will tell you yoga makes them feel good, scientists are much more interested in the objective and measurable effects. What does medical science say about yoga? Medical research in this area is extensive.
